Happy New Year!

I asked my friend: Why is it that after I close the books for the end of the year and then the year flies by and it is time to do it again, I can't remember how?

Poop Fairy!

I saw this sign while walking along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz today. Nice work, about a not so nice subject.

Simple, Smile.

"Whether this moment is happy or not depends on you. It's you that makes the moment happy. It's not the moment that makes you happy. With mindfulness, concentration and insight, any moment can become a happy moment. Happiness is an art."

And That's Why We Do It.

Christmas was so fun today. We laughed and talked with all the people we love. Everyone liked their gifts and everyone came through with such thoughtful things to amuse each other. Kevin's Chippino was wonderful. A great day was had by all. Happy Birthday Jesus! What a great way to celebrate.

Freedom, Oh Yeah, That's What It's About

It is difficult to understand how anyone can give up their Freedoms so quickly, when so many have given their lives to insure that we all can enjoy them. Fear is no excuse or reason to give in or back down. Courage is born of fear. We should have some courage. This movie would not be my first choice to go see, but I stand up for the right for any American who chooses, to do so.

It's Raining!!!

We had all sorts of schools close, people didn't go into work, events of all sorts were canceled. It rained a good amount and there were some flooded streets and backed up storm drains. But it is embarrassing being a Californian when the reaction to a little rain is so dramatic.

Holy Cow

Yes, because when I go out shopping, I want my new clothing to make me look like a cow.

Joshua saw Dillis knitting this sweater for her son Norman from Fireman Sam and asked me to knit him one just like it. We went to buy the yarn today. Pretty Darn Cute!!!

Lumbersexual?

My Son was talking about this new form of person or fashion or whatever it is. Urban Cowboy type or what ever. I call it normal for a woodworker of any kind. Shops get cold, flannel is warm, beards are lovely. And there were lumbersexuals way way before this guy. I think they are posers or something. You can't dress like this unless you have sawdust stuck in your socks.

Patience Little Grasshopper

So we went down to Nepenthe Restaurant on the Big Sur coast. It is definitively a destination spot that comes with an incredible coast road experience. So when we arrive and the very busy spot we know there is going to be a wait for the back veranda. It was 45 minutes at least. There were other people there waiting of course. What I found difficult to understand was how impatient people were about the wait. Every moment that I am there, the beauty of the place feeds my soul. I am reminded of all the great people who have stood on that very patio next to the coast since the days of the beatniks, writers, politicians, musicians, artists, and a host of others. How could even a moment of time spent in a place like Nepenthe make anyone upset.

Of Course

Why did the rooster cross the road? Because the chicken was on vacation. And so am I see you in a couple of days. Keep laughing and looking for ways to make everyone smile.

Prehistoric Googleing

At least they didn't keep track of every book you looked at, at the library. They didn't collect data on everything you read or showed interest in. Now they keep track of every word you write, every site you visit. How you write and what you write about even to your friends and family. All in the name of security? I think maybe that is a very small part of all the internet data snooping. But the picture of you has never been more transparent than it is today. Every time you take a little survey, are you a flower or a tree, what color is your favorite, you give them even more details about yourself. It isn't very funny at all. Privacy is a myth.

Dart Eyes

I overheard my Father talking to my new Brother-in-law to be, on my Sister's wedding day, "There is an unspoken language between married couples, you will learn all about it." I had been married for about 3 years and couldn't help replying, " Yes it's called Dart Eyes." I have been married for 38 years now and this laser eye surgery could really come in handy.
