The Lottery
There is a new commercial on television, with a math professor standing in front of a math problem written on a chalk board. He goes into several reasons, with the number 5 in them, that are not logical or mathematical in any way, suggesting that the players odds are great. Coming from a long line of Mathematicians and professional card players, it is nice to know your odds. Odds are hugely against anyone winning the lottery, with scratchers or any other way. If the professor told people the real chances, I imagine it would not be good for business, and a business it is. Please don't forget this. Just like the Casinos were not built on the money people won, but lost to the tune of Billions of dollars. If the lottery was considered a tax everyone would be shouting. But they are so clever they get you to give them your money freely. Isn't that so Funny?
